VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Volunteer Packet
Thank you for your interest in joining the Haven House team of volunteers! Since 1964 volunteers have proven to be one of Haven House’s greatest assets and work in every part of the agency. There are several ways to volunteer depending on your interests, available time and talents. See our Volunteer Packet for a full list of opportunities.
Join our Board
Our Board and Affiliate Board Members fundraise, participate in long-range planning, decide policy, oversee the budget, contribute financially, and assure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines – among other activities that ensure the health and well-being of the agency. If you are interested in joining this dynamic Board or volunteering at a committee or advisory level, please let us know.
Development
Volunteers in this department have a wide range of activities to choose from and many volunteers are needed on a regular basis. Development volunteers assist with planning and implementation of events, fundraising, development of marketing materials such as brochures, news articles, newsletters and flyers, conduct donor surveys and research, website updating, and participate in marketing and public relations activities. Please contact us for more details if you are interested in becoming a development volunteer, we would love to hear from you!
Administrative
Administrative volunteers provide support to agency coordinators with desktop publishing, phone networking, word processing, data entry, donor appreciation, and statistical record keeping. They solicit material and service donations for Haven House programs and assist with mailings and errands, among other activities.
Program Volunteer
Interested in volunteering in our shelter, children’s program or on our Hotline? This is a rewarding way to show your community you care about the domestic violence issues we face today. After completing a comprehensive 40-hour training that is offered at Haven House twice a year, volunteers develop an understanding of domestic violence history and its impact on the community; gain knowledge on social, cultural and religious issues as they relate to domestic violence; gain counseling and crisis intervention skills; and become acquainted with the Haven House programs and services offered to the community. Once again, thank you for your interest in this work. Volunteers and staff at Haven House are doing great work toward the end of domestic violence – we hope you will be joining our team!
